…I’m done. With politics, with the Democratic party, with listening to the blabbering talking heads and pundits. Everything. I can’t take it anymore. This country is getting dumber as each day passes. I’m beyond caring at this point.
If “the People” want to keep things the way they were 50, 60 or 100 years ago, I say let ’em have it. If they’re that dim, then they deserve the country they get under President Palin or whatever reactionary idiot they choose. Education, science, reason, intelligence…forget about it. “The People” just want someone they can knock back a beer with.
Count me out.

I loved the post but THE PICTURE. LOL, OMG – captures my feelings about it perfectly!

I feel your pain. I do. It’s been more than disheartening to watch the clusterf*ck that has been “health care reform”. And now that Massachusetts, of all places, elected a Conservative Republican I’m not sure where we go from here.
I am NOT sorry I voted for Obama. McCain and Palin would have been far, far, far, far worse. But the fact that we have been unable to do anything construction with a Democratic “supermajority” is disgusting, disheartening and depressing. Now that MA has elected a Republican, the spineless wonders in Washington will use that as an excuse to further cave.

From Balloon Juice today, quoted someone else:
“They [Dems] have zero excuses for failing to deliver. Americans will not find some nonsense about having only 59 Senate seats as an acceptable excuse for failing to accomplish anything. If Democrats think they can win in 2010 by running against Republican obstructionism, they will lose badly.”
And there it is. Texas, I know exactly where you are right now. I get there pretty often too.
But I need your voice! So take a break and then I’ll pester you!

Thank you all for your comments, or should I say, condolences. I think Jon Stewart summed it up best the other night:
“It’s not that the Democrats are playing checkers and the Republicans are playing chess. It’s that the Republicans are playing chess and the Democrats are in the nurse’s office because once again they glued their balls to their thighs.”

Politics in your country… it boggles my mind! THere is so much I don’t understand in American politics. Our own politicians drive me bonkers, but at least here I get the concept. 🙂 I feel for you!
I’m just really glad we’ve got universal health (not perfect, but more than good enough! It has been just about perfect for me, anyway.) and gay marriage across the country.
I hope something turns around for the Dems and the balls get unstuck! 😉 And I think animals are waaay more sensible than humans.

Natalie, if you’d like to understand politics in the U.S., read “Idiot America” by Charles Pierce. He starts out with a chapter on the Creation Museum in Kentucky where they have models of dinosaurs with saddles on display. Need I say more?

Wasn’t this the post you had the Jon Stewart quote on? I came back looking for it to get my daily dose of “tell it like it is.”
I tried to watch the talking heads today. Couldn’t stomach it. Hello, HGTV!

merrilymarylee: you had the right thread – for somre reason, Texas’ comments are divided into older and newer. Took me a while to figure that out.
