Appalachian flatfoot dancing! Just the coolest thing ever. I am going to learn this, y’all. Got my tap shoes ordered and my instructional DVD on its way.
Be sure to watch Charmine Slaven in the second clip when she starts dancing while playing the guitar at about the 1 minute mark.
Once you learn to flatfoot dance shoot a video to share with us, even if it’s just flatfoot dancing while feeding your cat.

Ha! Will do. By the way, here’s a link to an instructional video by a gal that I swear must be your Doppelganger. Are you sure you don’t moonlight as a flatfoot dancer on the side when you aren’t at The Grind?

That’s scary. But it’s been decades since I last wore a dress. And my voice is very monotone and deep; I sound chronically bored. My favorite part of the video was the dog.

In some of her other videos she wears shorts, and I have to say she really has a good set of gams. Her little dog steals the show, doesn’t he? He’s a Schipperke named Bon Jovi.

My dad’s family is from Arkansas and he called that style of dancing clogging. And I have done it on the stage at the Ozarka Folk Center in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

How cool is that! My understanding is that there are some subtle differences between flatfoot and clog, but they’re both fascinating to watch. Good for you!
