My little Chihuahua, Kelso, is having his fifteen minutes of fame after his photo was chosen as the “Pet of the Week” on the Humane Society of the United States’ website!
I had submitted his photo a couple of weeks ago and kind of forgot about it, but here he was in my inbox with the Humane Society’s weekly newsletter. The photo was taken at our local park, which he adores. He has sniffed, peed and pooped his way through every square inch of the place—loving it all the way.
We adopted Kelso from our local SPCA shelter two years ago. There’s just something about a Chihuahua!
Below is his “selfie” which I submitted to the weekly contest.

Now I suppose the next logical step is a reality TV show: “Keeping Up with Kelso.” At least I don’t have to worry about him making a sex tape. He’s been neutered.
😀 He sure is handsome!

Thank you! He hears that a lot, but he’s very humble and modest. 🙂

At least you have that! Stuck up, vain dogs are a pain. 😉

He sounds like such a sweetie! How do you plan to deal with the groupies that are bound to start hanging around?

Well, a fancy white poodle barked at him today at the park and made a lunge for him, so I guess it’s beginning. (At least she didn’t try to plant a big ol’ kiss on him like Madonna did with Drake. I felt sorry for that guy. Some people said it must have been like being kissed by your Grandma.)

Kelso is so adorable! Did you see this article about a dog’s gaze that recently ran in the New York Times? http://nyti.ms/1OIroek My sister tried to look deep into Thurber’s (our family dog’s) eyes, but he thought she was playing a game with him and all he wanted to do was kiss her. Thurber’s a Poovanese, a Poodle-Havanese-Idiot hybrid.

Yes, I did see that article! I’m sure there is a lot of truth to it. I feel a rush of oxytocin whenever I gaze into Kelso’s eyes. When I try it with the cat, he just bites me.
