The Wit and Wisdom of Dan Quayle

“Hillary Clinton may be a more qualified presidential candidate than Donald Trump “on paper,” former Vice President Dan Quayle said Thursday. But Trump is more qualified in another respect, the Indiana Republican suggested.

“He’s more qualified in the sense that the American people, I think, want an outsider,” Quayle said in an interview with NBC’s “Today,” remarking that he would support him as the Republican Party’s nominee. “And they want an outsider this time. She’s not an outsider, so if you’re looking for an outsider, no, she’s not qualified, and he is.”

Say what?

  1. Speaking of vice presidents, I read that Trump is considering Newt Gingrich as his running mate. Dear Newt. . . the one who declared Democrats the enemy and informed his party members that they should no longer sit with, socialize, or vote with them. And oh yeah, didn’t he shut down the government a time or two? What a stellar example! I don’t think Trump will choose Newt though. The hair competition between the two couples would be too fierce.

  2. Quayle seems to be unintentionally damning Trump with faint praise here. He says Clinton is the better candidate “on paper”. What’s on that paper? Experience, education, clear policy ideas…
And where does he get this idea that “the American people” want an Trump? Trump still hasn’t managed to get the entire GOP behind him, let alone the rest of the country.
